Good Times Continue
The team continues to thrive, despite unseasonably cold nights, large spiders, and whole minnows for lunch. They have had a wonderful time in the community-all 16 youth are having the opportunities to share the full gospel and they're all getting the honor of leading people to Christ.
One girl was terrified when she was asked to share with the chief and all the others who wanted to listen. She was totally relieved when lots of women and children came to listen and the chief never arrived! She shared beautifully, and many responded. Afterwards she asked her translator why the chief didn't show up--imagine her shock when the translator informed her that the chief WAS there. She was the woman sitting beside her who was first to pray to receive Christ! I guess we forgot to mention that many chiefs here are women!!!!!
Today they went hiking in the woods, where they saw a Nile Croc (from a safe distance in the river!!!) and a hyena. Now they're at a community football (soccer) game that they are sponsoring, after which they'll present the gospel to the crowds. Tomorrow is church, and then we're off to the game park on Monday morning--they'll have a great time there, and I get a break from cooking, so it's win-win!
Speaking of cooking, it's going great as well. A TON of work, but it's all going according to plan. Except when I put the hot dish of enchiladas on the cold counter top last night and the whole pan exploded, sending shrapnel of enchilada sauce-covered glass everywhere!!! That was not quite part of the plan!!! However, no one was hurt, and God seemed to multiply the remaining trays so that there were still left-overs. The kids are eating everything without a word of complaint...so either I'm an awesome cook or they're really great kids! =)
